The place that pays my bills has changed, along with my podcasting host over on MSC.

First I want to talk about the place that pays my bills. I’m not going to get into specifics such as who, what and where, but I will say that my employment status change was mainly due to one man who I admire greatly.

I admire this man for his truly mind blowing skills in the bullshitting department. He is incredible at it. without doubt he is in the top 5 best bullshit artists I have ever known. But you can only be lied to a manipulated for so long before you get wise to it, and then what?

I discovered pretty quickly that when you discover that someone is willfully lying to you, you really don’t want to associate with them. At least that’s how I felt. I basically wanted nothing to do with him.

So time to move on…

Next is the departure of Peter Glynn from the Mind Set Podcast. A month or so ago Peter said, during the show, that he was going to close down his “Political Rants” video series on YouTube. I remember being a little taken a back by this, as peters rants were always a favorite. I really enjoyed Peters take on local and world news, and more often than not he was 100% correct with his thoughts and theories. This was one of the main reasons Peter was always a tremendous asset to the podcast.

Once Peters rants were closed, and for the reason that he no longer wanted to be associated with NWO (new world order) cultists. I knew that his days on the Mind Set Podcast where numbered. Not that I wanted Peter to leave, far from it. But Peter was getting tired of the reality of the world situation. I mean, lets face it. A comfortable Lie, is much more palatable than the painful truth.

So Peter opted to ignore reality, and place his feet firmly on the ground, a place that the vast majority of the population also stand.

I really can’t blame him. I’ve thought about ending the podcast and my association with “truth”, for a long time. Life really would be so much easier just to focus on the trivia and the mundane.  Sheep don’t have it all bad.

Anyway, luckily for for the show, and my continued interest in it, along came Alex Fate. Alex has been superb on the show. his knowledge and insight into world events has been staggering. He has become a genuine asset to the show and the Mind Set site in general.

So in a way it all turned out ok. I ended a nightmare job and found a new one, and my site and podcast has been given a new lease of life!

Probably the greatest photograph ever taken.

So you are making a good salary and doing your job to the best of your ablity.

Why on Earth would you want to quit?

There are a number of reasons to leave your place of work, but here are some of my favorites.

1.  Your values are at odds with the corporate culture. Perhaps your company is egalitarian and you believe in assigned parking spots for salaried employees. Your company does annual employee satisfaction surveys and you think these are a waste of time. Your company is hierarchical and you want to influence every aspect of your job. No matter where the clash is occurring, a lack of congruence with the corporate culture will destroy your attitude at work.

2.  Your stress level is so high at work that it is affecting your physical or mental health and your relationships with your friends and family. Watch for the signs of burnout and if they can’t be cured, move on.

3. Your company is ethically challenged. Perhaps, the managers lie to customers about the quality of the products or the day on which product will ship. You become aware that the company is stealing information from competitors. Whatever the issue, don’t stay in an organization where your ethics are out of sync.

4. Your relationship with your manager is damaged beyond repair. You have sought help to mend the boss relationship but you know it is too damaged for recovery. (Perhaps you were untrustworthy, missed work on too many days, or the manager acts like an untrustworthy jerk.) Whatever the reason, the relationship is irrecoverably damaged.

And finally…

5. You’ve stopped having fun and enjoying your job. No matter what changed, when you dread going to work in the morning, it’s time to leave your job.

Stumbled across this great picture in anachrocomputer‘s Flickr feed.

I started on the BBC Model B Microcomputer, and I currently use a Mac.

1.  Hypocrisy and stupidity usually go hand in hand

2.  Napping during lunch is bad

3. I’m really starting to hate Salads

4. Finally honed in on the two personality defects that constantly fuck me over.

5. Bill Hicks was right, its just a ride…
